2 BUSINESS VIEW MAGAZINE VOLUME 9, ISSUE 7 EDI TOR ’ S NOTES From Canada Day to Independence Day to long- awaited summer holidays, North Americans are finding a lot of reasons to celebrate! The business sector, too, is enjoying the positive vibes of recovery after a couple of tumultuous years. On the fun side, in this edition of Business View, we head to the Missouri State Fair, the Tennessee Valley Fair, Bolton Valley Resort, and the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center… where good times meet nostalgia and wonderful new memories are made. Yes, the challenges are still real – including increased materials and shipping costs, uncomfortably long delivery delays, and labor pains due to the shortage of skilled talent in just about every industry. One of the hardest hit sectors is definitely aviation, with the lack of pilots and aircraft mechanics disrupting the best laid vacation plans for travellers. Just when tourism was coming back in full swing. But there is some great news on the horizon when it comes to general aviation, as we hear from Bay City Regional Airport and Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport. You might ask, given the economic climate, why are our business folk still smiling? Well, companies that have been in operation for a long while – such as JD Stairs, Epcon Industrial Systems, Budd Van Lines, The First National Bank of Groton, and Walkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan – have learned to ride the rollercoaster of uncertainty over the years. The end result has always been a welcome breath of fresh air from lessons learned and new beginnings. And newer teams are embracing technology and all the exciting solutions and opportunities that come with it. One of those innovators is James Kyle, founder and CEO of Millennium, who has a lot to be happy about! Not only has his company been featured on the cover of this issue of Business View, but he was recently announced as a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year 2022 Midwest Award! At BVM, we never make light of the downtimes and low points but we really do love to share the joys and milestones and success stories that come our way every month. We have a full slate for your pleasure in these pages. Thanks so much for joining us and enjoy the read! Lorie Lee Steiner Editor in Chief
